She was predeceased by: her spouse Byrum Bates. She is survived by: her siblings, Richard Lile, Edith Cunningham, Martha Wagner, James Lile, Leigh Lile and Baby Lile of Virginia; her sons, Frank and Jeffery Lile; her grandchild Garrick Holmquest; her daughters, Connie Lile of La Porte, Patti Young (Bob) of Lacrosse, Lorie Smutzer of La Porte, Paula Stowe (Bill) of La Porte, Darla Bates of La Porte and LeeAnn Daisy (Norman) of La Porte; her siblings, William Lile (Diane) of Plymouth and Joyce Lile of Hamlet; and her daughter-in-law Karen Lile of La Porte. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Virginia contributed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on a monthly basis and the family wanted to continue that legacy through the memorial contributions they have chosen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Virginia Norlene Bates.
