James left this world on December 22, 2024 at the age of 86, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Roy and Gertrude Waters (Wright); his wife Katherine "Katie" Alice Waters (Faucett); and his sisters, Barbara Newton and Jayne Wright.

He is survived by: his children, Terri King of Kirklin, Gary Waters (Tracy) of Colfax and Kenneth "Kenny" Waters (Kathy) of Kirklin; his grandchildren, Aarron King (Elisha), Adam King (Polly), Jessica Waters, Amanda Waters, Paige Waters (Brian), Nicole Sawyer and Shelby Lite (Taylor); and his siblings, Wayne Waters (Judy) and Nancy Stuart. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“My name is Diane Moore and I wqs fortunate enough to meet Katie and Jim at Six Points Church. Katie was a woman who spoke her mind and I loved her stories she told me. Jim was a kind, godly man and he told me many stories about the fact that his health was failing and he loved to train his dogs and rabbit hunt. His son told me at the funeral that he had taken Jim out to where they hunted rabbits and he sat on the tailgate of the truck so Jim could hunt down a rabbit as he chased one by.”
