In the echoes of fond remembrance, may we find a sense of peace, knowing that the memories we hold dear will continue to shape and inspire us, keeping Donald's spirit alive in our hearts and actions. While his presence may be gone, his impact lives on in the kindness we show others and the joy we find in the ordinary moments of life.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl Shorter and Emily Shorter (Fort); his wife Barbara Sue King; and his brother Lester Shorter. He is survived by : his children, Allen Shorter (Noreen) of Houston and Amber "Amy" Smith (Edward) of Fort Wayne; and his sister Earlene Blount of North Judson, Indiana.. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel (108 S Main St, Knox, IN 46534). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (1600 S Heaton St, Knox, IN 46534).

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Heartland Hospice of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
