He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd C. Pennington and Frieda M. Pennington (Meeks); his half-brother Ronald Bennett; his parents-in-law, Truman and Helen Slabaugh; and his sisters-in-law, Winifred Miller, Evelyn Miller and Martha Miller.

He is survived by: his wife Marjorie "Marge" Pennington; his daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Sanders (Monty) and Kathleen Pennington; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Riley (Cole) and Kyle Sanders (Faith); his sister Patricia Fischvogt (Robert); and his siblings-in-law, Danny Miller, Dick Slabaugh (Karen) and Judy Tumbleson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
