He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Etherington and Edith Etherington (Simpson); his wife Althea Kinney; his son-in-law Charles Brier; his parents-in-law, Dorothy and Rupert Kinney; and his brother B. Dean Etherington.

He is survived by: his daughters, Dawn Brier and Sheila Taflinger (Bruce "Taf"); his grandchildren, Kolton Smith (Christine), Dale Brier, Mike Brier, Jeff Brier, Travis, Lisa Taflinger, Brooke, Jaime Garcia, Chad, Angela Taflinger and Romeo Garcia; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Micah, Max, Marshall, Landen, Addalee, Kaylen, Kyler, Cadence, Austen and Kristelyn; and his great great grandchildren, Zane Charlie, Myles, Jessalynn and Theo.
