She was predeceased by: her parents, John Whitfield and Susie Whitfield; her husband Richard C. Murphy; her brothers, Henry Whitfield and John Whitfield; her son Freeman Murphy; her daughter-in-law Marry Ann Murphy; and her great grandchild Destiny Quarles.
She is survived by: her daughter Juanita Murphy Scales of Kokomo, IN; and her grandchildren, William E. Murphy of North Carolina, Lawrence Murphy of Fishers, IN, Ronnie Murphy of Avon, IN, Freeman Murphy, Durome, Kermit, Karolyn, Regina, Dorothy "Nekole" Scales, Arlanda, Nicole Murphy, Laura Ann, Lameka, Takia and Shyanne. She is also survived by 24 great grandchildren and 40 great great grandchildren and two nephews.
