He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Byers and Wilhelmina Byers (Phipps); his daughters, Teresa Shelton, Melody Spaulding, Pamela Frakes, Penny Byers, Candy Seigal and Nancy Pyke; and his siblings, Ruby Bush, Myrtle Hartman, Anna Bragg and William Byers.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his daughter Myra McCain; and his sister Opal Hartman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
