Faith Christine Prater Obituary
Faith Christine (Reed) Prater, 80, of Kokomo, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo. She was born in Danville, IL, on September 10, 1942, the daughter of the late Gerald Foster and Mary Margaret (Burris) Reed. On February 1, 1959, she married Jimmy A. Prater at Elizabeth Street Baptist Church in Kokomo, and he survives.
Christine attended Western High School. She retired from Dollar General in Fort Wayne, where she worked as a cashier and the assistant manager. She had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Kokomo. She was a kindhearted woman who would help anyone in need. Christine was a gifted piano player, skilled singer, and a great quilter. She was known to be a competitive euchre player. She was witty and had an amazing sense of humor.
In addition to her husband of 63 plus years, Christine is survived by her children, Lisa A. (Denver) Muhs, Jeffrey W. Prater, and Jerry A. (Jane) Prater; siblings, Dianna Hickey, Marilynn (Frank) Clark, Norbert (Janetta) Reed; seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mary Reed; seven siblings; son, Kevin Prater; granddaughter, Chelsea Prater; and great-grandson, Jonah.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ascension St. Vincent and the hospice that took such good care of Faith.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 am to Noon on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at New London Friends Church, 2104 South 766 West, Russiaville, IN 46979. Funeral service will begin at Noon on Tuesday at the church, with David Reed officiating. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Christine's memory to the Kokomo Humane Society (http://kokomohumane.org). Stout & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
