He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcelin Harold and Nancy Margaret Smith (Seely); his brother Emory "Mo" Jay Smith; and his cousins, Curtis Smith and Dennis Smith.

He is survived by: his daughter Ele King (Shannon); his granddaughters, Olivia Richmond (Trey) and Gabrielle King; his great grandchild Oakley Jean Richmond; his brother Ronald Smith (Sandra); his sister-in-law Diane Smith; his nephews, Scott Smith, Chase Smith, Marc Smith and Mike Smith; his niece Holli Senters; his aunt Pat Smith; and his cousin Mike Smith.
