We bid farewell to Rex Larry Smeltzer of Kokomo, Indiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 13, 2025 at the age of 93. Rex touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Smeltzer and Osee Smeltzer (Heckaman); and his brothers, Ronald and Max Smeltzer. He is survived by: his wife Karen Lewis; his children, Cindy Quinn (Brad) of Indianapolis and Jeff Smeltzer (Lisa) of Westfield; his grandchildren, Jordan Hanscom (Peter), Hayden Quinn (Grace) and Allie Quinn (Jordan Cobb); his great grandchildren, Camden and Miles Hanscom; his stepchildren, Nathan Lewis, Carolyn Jackson and Daniel Lewis; his stepgrandchildren, Kynzee Halter, Brayton Lewis, Kylie Lewis, Ellee Lewis and Jozie Jackson; and his siblings-in-law, Melvita Shutt, Kathi Stewart and Jeffery Collins (Diana).
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the First Congregational Christian Church (505 W Mulberry St, Kokomo, IN 46901). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 1:00 PM and at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rex's name to the First Congregational Christian Church of Kokomo or the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter.
