With sadness, we share the passing of Richard Eugene Schaaf of Kokomo, Indiana. Richard, born on July 5, 1931, passed away on September 21, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold C. Schaaf and Elsie Fern Schaaf (Smith); and his wife Joan Schaaf (Winger). He is survived by: his children, Max Schaaf (Becky) of Greentown, Mark Schaaf (Danielle) of Kingwood, Mike Schaaf (Diana) of Kokomo and Marla Chapple (Gary) of Columbia City; his sisters, Roberta Schwarz of Cookeville and Carolyn Taskey of Kokomo; his grandchildren, Alan Chapple (Kimberly), Brian Chapple, Jordan Chapple (Amanda), Anna Reynolds (Drew), Adam Schaaf (Sarah), Aaron Schaaf, Andrew Schaaf (Hannah), Alex Schaaf (Kristen), Catherine Schaaf, Raymond Schaaf (Erin), David Schaaf (Macey) and Katie Schaaf; and his great grandchildren, Caleb, Levi, Sarah, Ezra, Grace, Hudson, Miles, Aidon, Lucy, Wyatt, Sophia, Oliver, Adaline, Ellis, Kate, Evan, Gemma and Callum.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Converse Church of Christ (301 E Wabash St, Converse, IN 46919). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gene's memory to Converse Church of Christ for the Samaritan Room or the church's scholarship fund.
