He was predeceased by: his parents, Buck Hougland and Roberta Hougland (Roberts); and his sister Terri Tweed. He is survived by: his wife Betty Dick; his children, Amy Marie Parraga, Eric Hougland and Ian Hougland (Kathryn); his grandchildren, Sadie Parraga and Lyra Hougland; his sister Pam Hughes; and his brother-in-law Mike Tweed. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology department of Riley Children's Hospital.
