He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert David and Lucille White (Sunn); his daughter Josephine Maurin; and his grandsons, James Sturgis, III, Brandon White and Joel Maurin.

He is survived by: his spouse Lucena "Jeanie" Vega; his children, Agripina Sturgis, Belina Libritz, Susan White, Neal White and Cris White; his adoptive daughter Colette Blanchett; his grandchildren, Jessica Sturgis, Nicole Johnson, Russell Johnson, Megan Libritz, Ama White, Kyle White, Mitchell White, Blake White, Mira Maurin, Thata Maurin, Juliet Quiban, Joy Quiban and Jonille Quiban; his great grandchildren, Jacey Scales, James Sturgis, IV, Janelle Sturgis, Enzo Brooks, Wendy Rodriguez, Almer Maurin, Almera Maurin and Kimberly Rodriguez; his brother Jerry White (Emma Lee); and his sister-in-law Violet Barrett (James Jackson).
