He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Bernth and Charlotte Hartmann (Weaver); his stepparents, Roy Hartmann and Bernice Bernth; and his brother Donald Hartmann.
He is survived by: his sons, Rev. Erik Bernth (Sara) of Porter, Steven Bernth (Amy) of La Porte and Jason Bernth (Lisa Pepper) of St. Louis, Missouri; his grandchildren, Joseph (Katelynn), Charles, Carter, Brady and Kylee Bernth; and his siblings, Jeanette Baker (John) of La Porte, Dennis Bernth (Tammy) of Mill Creek and LuAnn Bacon of La Porte. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and cherished friends.
