He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilbur Scherer and Pearl Scherer; his wife Joan Elaine Luther; his son Curtis Scherer; and his grandson David Matthew Scherer.
He is survived by : his sons, Terry Scherer (Renee) of La Porte, Greg M. Scherer of La Porte and Jeff Scherer of La Porte; his grandchildren, Noelle Anderson, Nicole McIntire, Brittany, Andrew, Kathryn and Curtis Scherer; and his great grandchildren, Daven, Tatum, Willow and Faith Anderson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
