He was predeceased by: his parents, Taylor Whitehead, and Catherine Whitehead, Sr. (Caldwell); his wife Edna Mae Whitehead; his son Roy Whitehead; his former wife Cleo Evans Whitehead (Brummet); and his siblings, Elmer, Fred, John, Manuel, Hurley, Reuben Whitehead and Bonnie Lou Whitehead.
He is survived by: his children, Bonnie Salak (Robert) of La Porte, Phyllis Howard (Roger) of Michigan City, Indiana and Charles Whitehead (Shawna) of La Porte, Indiana; his grandchildren, Veronica Tsitrian (Chris), Carla Glossenger and Jason Dierdorf; his great grandchildren, Arianna Rojas, Kayla Pitchford (Casey), Lillian Combs (Nathan), Jacob Tsitrian, Tony Glossenger and Jadon Tsitrian; his great great grandchildren, Celeste Garcia, Isaac Combs and Selah Pitchford; his sisters, Omajean Caldwell of Kentucky and Mary Ann Whitehead of Kentucky; and his nephews, John and Mike Caldwell.
