William Reese d. December 21, 2024. La Porte William J. Reese, 36, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday December 21, 2024 in Kingman, IN.
He was born August 18, 1988 in Valparaiso, Indiana, the son of Richard Reese and Christine (Smith) Reese.
A lifelong resident of the area, William proudly served as a Motor Sergeant in the Indiana National Guard with honor and distinction. A Purple Heart recipient, William served 3 tours overseas and successfully rose through the ranks with his most recent accomplishment of being promoted to Sergeant First Class.
He dedicated himself to the service of his country with the same commitment and skill that he brought to all aspects of his life.
On September 5, 2016, he married the love of his life, Stephanie (Yates) Reese, who survives.
Outside of his military obligations, he was known for his unwavering love to not only his wife, but also his beautiful children. A true enthusiast of nature, William found great joy in hiking, exploring the beauty of the world one trail at a time. His appreciation for the serenity of nature was matched only by his enthusiasm for firearms; he was an avid gun enthusiast and had a particular fondness for knives. Whether he was spending an afternoon at the shooting range or simply enjoying the tranquility of a wooded path with his family right beside him, William embraced every opportunity to indulge in his interests.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Reese; son, Benton Reese; daughter, Madeline Reese; step-daughter, Mersaydes Carter; two sisters, Katharine (Carltin) Holt, Megan Reese; and his father and mother-in-law, Michael and Jackie (Overholser) Yates.
William was preceded in death by his father, Richard Reese.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 12 noon until service time at 2 p.m. Military honors will be rendered. Afterward, Cremation will take place.
