She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Johnson and Leota Johnson (Fix); her husband James L. Short; and her brothers, Cecil, Dean and Andy Johnson.

She is survived by: her sons, Kenneth L. Short (Kimberly) of West Lafayette and Keith A. Short (Jill) of Lafayette; her grandchildren, Jason Short (Jennifer), Radley Short, Courtney McNeely (Kyle), Ashlyn and Alanna Short; her great grandchildren, Haley, Matthew and Rachel Short; and her sister Beatrice E. Sturgeon (Robert) of Oxford.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the John Purdue Club in Barbara's memory.
