He was predeceased by: his parent Ora Ross Nelson; his siblings, Betty Nelson and Bob Nelson; and his grandson Samuel Ross Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Gary Nelson (Jackie) of Shorewood, IL, David Nelson of Lafayette, Jim Nelson (Karen) of Carmel, IN, Sharon Morphew (John) of Lafayette, IN and Karen Walls (Jim) of Indianapolis, IN.; and his grandchildren, Scott Nelson (Jamie), Joshua Nelson (Nicole), Angela Bennett (Logan), Daniel Goysich (Sarah), Ken Nelson (Christy), Luke Nelson (Elizabeth), Rebekah Fisher (Jacob), Laura Battiato (Andrew), Ryan Morphew (Emily), Sarah Reed (Jeff), Rachel Walls, Meghan Walls and Jonathan Walls. He is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren.
