He was predeceased by: his father Chester Hemmig; his wife Eva Gipson; and his brother Dave Hemmig. He is survived by: his children, Tony R. Hemmig (Dawn) of Lafayette and Andrea L. Walker (Jason Rider) of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Heather Burdine (Kyle), Kayle Bell (Austin) and James Snowberger; and his great grandchildren, Khloe, Kinsley, Kylee and Chandler.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Don's memory.
