He was predeceased by: his father Walter E. Schwartz; his former wife Dorothy Howe; and his siblings, Walter "Red", Maxine, Pauline, Juanita, William and Robert.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Schwartz of Lafayette; his children, Linda Schwartz of Otterbein and Jay Schwartz (Mary) of Monticello; his grandchildren, Rodney Troxell (Anna), Amy Martin, Anna Thomas (Andrew) and Sarah Schwartz; and his great grandchildren, Katie, Karly, Alex, Tyler, Ben and Beau.
