He was predeceased by: his parents, John William "Bill" and Nina Florence Walter (Simonson); and his brother Jeffrey. He is survived by: his parent-in-law Gelene C. Street (Crubaugh); his wife Gelene; his children, Lisa Reed (Steve) of Warsaw, IN, Tim Walter (Elizabeth) of Troy, MI and Todd Walter (Suzzette) of McCordsville, IN; his stepson Tyler Street (Shelby); his grandchildren, Blake Reed (Elizabeth), Emily, Mallory Mace (Michael), Grant Reed (Kayla), Ashley Mogle (Casey), Katie Walter and Aayla Street; his stepgranddaughter Aayla Street; and his great grandchildren, Brann, Emmett, Wyatt, Rhett, Parker, Aldrein and Carsyn.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Samaritan's Purse, Gideon Bibles or the Wounded Warriors Project.
