She was predeceased by: her parents, George Oscar Penner and Neomia Rivers Penner (Coomer); her husband Floyd Irwin "Tony" Wheelden; and her sisters, Virginia Hagemeyer, Wanda Penner, Lura Ann Vann and Gwendlyn Kay Canney.

She is survived by: her sister Sue; her close friend Cissy; her daughters, Mitzi Barnett (Ron Starbuck) of Lafayette, Debra Sheets (Kitrick) of Sanford, NC and Kimberly Nunley (Kevin) of Apex, NC; and her siblings, George Penner (Sheila) of San Diego, CA, Donald Penner (Dorothy) of Lafayette, Velma Gilliland (Jack) of Huntingburg, IN and Jeanie Seals of Princeton, IN. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or Almost Home Humane Society.
