Mary L. Thompson –. There was great rejoicing in Heaven on January 21st, 2021 as Mary L. Thompson was called home to be with the lord. She lived with great faith believing Jesus is the Resurrection and the life. Mary was born in Harlan, Kentucky on January 7th 1935 to Arthur and Bessie Browning. Mary was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
She loved reading her Bible, working in her yard, and spending time with her family and grandkids. There is comfort knowing that "To be absent from the body, is to be in the present of the lord (2 Corinthians 5:8)". She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She worked at Warren Paper, Home Hospital, and Andovers.
She was a hard worker. Mary was a woman of prayer and great faith, her desire was that others would know Jesus. Her first marriage was to Warren G. Daugherty in 1951. In 1972 she married the love of her life John I. Thompson, he proceeded her in death in 2001 along with her father, mother, two brothers, eight sisters, daughter Brenda Green and three grandchildren.
Mary leaves behind her daughter, Patricia (Darrel) Gill, Lisa (Mitchell) Rightor, Crystal Buchanan, Lawrence (Doc) Thompson, Sue Taque, Barb (Jim) HayWorth, and her very special son Joshua C. Duncan who made his home with his grandmother. Five grandchildren, Tammy Duncan, Doug (Kelly) Collins, Carrie Davenport, Stanley (Mendy) Collins, Cindy (Rogers) Myers, 26 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, her sisters Anna Johnson, and Jewell (Tom) Wright.
Visitation will be held from 5pm – 8pm Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Second. Visitation will be 1pm-2pm Friday, January 29, 2021 at Hippensteel Funeral Home, following a Service at 2pm with Pastor Christopher Black. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. (25 guests will be allowed to enter the facility at a time. Current Covid-19 precautions will be observed along with social distancing and current government attendance guidelines.) Masks are required.
