He is survived by: his wife Graceann Merkel (Caesar); his children, Lora Merkel and Ryan Merkel (Kristina Faurote); his grandchildren, Wyatt Merkel, Kyle Merkel, Ryan Jr. Merkel and Samantha Nemeth; and his sister Doloros Charlesworth (Merkel). He is also survived by 29 nieces and nephews.
Willard was asked if there was a charity he would like to have supported and he hopes that you "search your heart and find what speaks to you.".
