He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Mitchell and Lorabelle Mitchell (Givens); his daughter Peggy Dalton; his brother Robert Mitchell; his former wife Doris Comer; and his wife Mackey Wilson.

He is survived by: his children, William Mitchell (Edwina) of Bunker Hill, Deborah Gates, Raymond Mitchell (Gloria) of Flint, MI and Melissa Mitchell of Lafayette. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
