He was predeceased by : his father Walter Piper; his wife Mary Etta Gibson; his daughter Patricia Sears; his siblings, Dorothy Mates, John Piper and Karen Sales; his stepson Jeremy Gibson; and his great grandchild Ayden.

He is survived by : his stepsons, Mike Gibson and Rodney Williams; and his former life partner Phyllis Piper. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
