She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Gay and Jessie Barrett Gay; her husband David W. Steele; her sons, David Steele (Keith) and Daryl W. Steele; her grandchildren, Daryl W. Steele Jr., Heather Steele, Amanda L. Lewis and Felinda D. Lewis; her great grandchildren, Ethan U. Williams, Elysium U. Lewis and KyLee Z. Mosier; her siblings, Juanita Flannery, Belle Wright and Edward Gay Jr.; and her brother-in-law Daniel Allen.
She is survived by: her daughters, Darlene Steele and Daphne Lewis (Mike Durham); her grandchildren, John Lewis (Jennifer), Dewey Lewis (Haley), Joseph Steele, Benita Hedrick (Jerry), Wesley Allen, Tiffany Steele and Bobby Steele; and her sisters, Henrietta Allen, Rebecca Wilson and Naomi Faulkner (Scott). She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
