He was predeceased by: his parents, George R. Smith and Mary Frances Smith (Palmer); his wife Joyce A. Ryan; his siblings, Nancy Elaine Macy, Denny and George Smith; his daughter Kathleen Smith Davis; and his grandson Dylan Patterson.
He is survived by: his sons, Tim Smith (Margaret) of Laurel and Robert Smith Jr. (Sara) of Laurel; his sister Brenda Tillison of Connersville; and his grandchildren, Heather Hunt (Clay), Heidi Smith, Ryan Konneck (Leslie), Josh Konneck, Shawna Bailey, Leslie Krepp, Donald Cochran (Megan) and Mia Smith (Jessica) of Aleah Smith, C. W.. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
