He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Chenault (Napier) and Walter Chenault; his wife Janovua; his siblings, Helen Hurt, Wilma Guerrero and Kendall Chenault; his stepgrandchild Shannon Elswick; and his stepgreat-grandson James Elswick IV.
He is survived by: his daughter Cindy Buuck (Jerry) of Ft. Wayne, IN; his grandchildren, Jaqueline Dixon (Ryan), Kayla Chastain (Jameson), Jennifer Wynn (Jonathan), Ashley Marshall (Chris), Jonathan Mealor, Jacob Mealor (Ashley), Sarah Reckers, Elizabeth Basten (Michael), Bonnie Buuck, Melissa Cundiff (Michael) and Hayley Buuck; his stepgranddaughter Regina Gearhart (Troy); his siblings, Walter Ray Chenault (Diana) of Stanton, KY, Nancy Powers of Stanton and Elsie Catron of Stanton, KY; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Chenault and Albert Stewart (Helen) of Peculiar, MO. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 2 unborn great-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home (219 Mechanic St, Aurora, IN 47001). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the River View Cemetery (3635 E Laughery Creek Rd, Aurora, IN 47001). The RSVP group out of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and the Whitewater Bluegrass group out of Harrison, Ohio, acknowledged his volunteer service involving music.
