She was predeceased by: her husband James Hale, Jr.; her brothers, Glen Cox and Richard Cox; and her siblings-in-law, Maxine Cox, Donna Cox, Howard Reardon and Isaac Routt.

She is survived by: her sons, Daniel Hale and Nathan Hale; her grandchildren, Shelbie Ann Hale and Cody Allan Hale; her siblings, Zella Reardon, Edward Cox, Kathy Routt, Phyllis Kriete (Roger), Sue Wagner, Miranda Church and John Cox; and her sister-in-law Virginia Cox.

In lieu of flowers, Velma's family has asked memorial contributions be made to the Ladies Ministry at Solid Rock Church through Collins Funeral Home.
