He was predeceased by: his parents, William Smith and Elsie Smith (Watts); his wife Polly Smith (Thompson); his stepfather Henry Watts; his siblings, Gene Smith, Ann Thomas and Omma Lee; and his grandsons, Branden Benson, Jordan Smith and Dakota Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Ira Smith (Crystal) of Linton, Justin Smith (Courtney) of Linton, Sarah Wilson (John) of Linton, Paula Smothers (Kris) of Centerville, IA and Malissa Moorman (Roy) of Linton; his siblings, Stella McCann (Eddie) of Georgia, Roy Smith (Betty) of Linton and Richard Smith (Marie) of Dugger; and his sister-in-law Connie Smith of Linton. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
