James Vern Somsel Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on March 6, 2026, at the age of 87, James Vern Somsel of Logansport, Indiana, born in Scottsburg, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vern and Edith Marie Somsel (Arthurholtz); and his siblings, Lois Moss of Logansport and William Lee Somsel of Logansport. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia; his sons, John Vern Somsel (Kelly) of Logansport and William Arthur (Alice) of Logansport; his sister Betty Parrot of Seymour, Indiana.; his grandchildren, Ryan Somsel (Erika) of Woodburn, Corrine Berkshire (Brad) of Royal Center, Jessica Staley (Jay Averitt) of Chandler, Arizona and Clay Somsel of Rochester, Indiana.; and his great grandchildren, Jennifer Berkshire, Vensent Staley, Van Berkshire, Eli Somsel, Beau Berkshire, Bruno Somsel, Wyatt Berkshire, Joe and Ryan Coomer.
