Betty Downs Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Betty Downs of Loogootee, Indiana, who passed away on July 12, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jacqueline Gaither Sims and Meredith Sims; her sisters, Linda Johnson (Ronnie) and Janet Anne Sims; her sisters-in-law, Opha Sims, Chris Sims and Norma Jean Sims; her nephew Michael Downs; and her in-laws, Joyce and Wilson Downs.
She is survived by: her husband Larry Downs; her daughters, Alicia Padgett (Andy), Julie Foster and Crystal "Kristi" Venters (Yul); her grandchildren, Joshua, Jericho Padgett, Brandon Foster, Jameson Coy, Coleman and Timothy Venters; her siblings, Stanley Sims (Charlene), Steve Sims (Jerra) and Merrill Sims; and her friend Rodney Foster. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Dover Hill Christian Union Church. A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, please make monetary contributions to Mt. Union Cemetery in order to provide funds for grounds keeping.
