He was predeceased by: his mother Mildred Dunnigan (Fugitte); his son Michael Thornsbury II; and his brothers, James and Charles Thornsbury. He is survived by: his wife Melana Cunningham (Carey); his daughters, Beverly Varney (Mose) and Evellyn Thornsbury of West Virginia; and his stepsons, Stanley Shoulders, Jr. of Lawrenceville, IL and Robert Shoulders of Loogootee, Indiana.. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
