He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton B. Carpenter and Alyene Carpenter (Mahoney); his parents-in-law, Dan and Blanche Walters; and his brothers-in-law, Don Joslin and Ray Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda; his children, Terri Thorn (Rob) and Barry Gaines (Jacky); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Alpha (Kyle Hogan), Julia Thorn, Logan Gaines, Mark Thorn (Kristen) and Alexa Haulk (Ryder); his great grandchildren, Ledger Gaines and Callum Haulk; his siblings, Gene Carpenter and Marlene Joslin; his sisters-in-law, Cheryl Johnson and Ann Burress (Bill); his nephew Reggie Joslin (Cheri); and his niece Tonya Becker (Gary). He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who were blessed by his kindness.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre (325 Demaree Dr, Madison, IN 47250). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 17th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Madison Baptist Church.
