She was predeceased by: her parents, Esta Hill and Alice Hill (Swihart); her husband James Schmeltz; her sons, Kent and Gary Schmeltz; her granddaughter-in-law Jenny Schmeltz; her great grandchild Avery Schmeltz; and her siblings, Virginia Coddens, Donna Gibson and Richard Hill.
She is survived by: her daughter Karen Sutter (Brad) of Barrington, IL; her daughters-in-law, Wanda Schmeltz of Madison Township and Kim Bope of Bremen, IN; her grandchildren, Adam Schmeltz, Tyler Schmeltz (Jill), Jenna Sutter, Ellen Beehler (Joe), Erica Secrist (Kevan), Leah Arriola (Kyle), Elaine Annis (Jordan), Olivia Wagner (Shawn) and Stuart Schmeltz; and her brother David Hill of Mishawaka, IN.. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth's name can be given to the Baugo Church of the Brethren.
