He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Denney and Helen Denney (Timmons); his brothers, Nelson Denney, David Denney, Jessie Denney, Raymond Denney, Joseph Butch Denney and Clyde Denney; and his nephews, Ronnie Ray Flynn, Jr. and Troy Michael Fear.

He is survived by: his wife Diana Denney; his children, Debra Powell, Julie Cooper (Joel), Ivy Disher (Michael), Sharon Roan (Andy), Nyoka Denney and Angela "Little Red" Byers (Matt); his grandchildren, Sabrina Simpson, Ceara Denney, Paul Stephney, Jr., Breahna Simpson, Tanner Brown and Willow; and his sisters, Ada "Bertie" Hawkins, Bessie Flynn, Zoletta Fear and Debbie Jo Tackett. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
