He is survived by: his wife Carol Dissinger; his children, Brent Bates (Patty) of Yorktown, Chris Bates (Rae) of Denver, Darren Bates (Kay) of Muncie, Eric Bates (Edgena) of Snohomish, Neal Bates (Sara) of Marion, April Striegle (Jay) of Indianapolis and Angel Fisher (David) of Ashburn; and his sisters, Stevia Webster of Fort Wayne and Marcia Maxwell of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
