He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry "Buzz" Certain and Agnes Certain; his sister Mary Agnes Certain; and his daughter Catherine Marie Certain. He is survived by: his wife Jackie Certain of Paul's Catholic Church; his sons, Harry Certain (Ali), Tim Certain (Wilma), Jeff Certain (Erin) and Adam Certain (Shannon); and his grandchildren, Sam, Jack, Connor, Ben, Abe, Evan and Lucy.

For those who wish, Memorial contributions (in lieu of flowers or gifts) may be made in Joe's honor to the St. Paul Parish School.
