We are sad to announce that, on April 13, 2026, at the age of 61, John C. Herres of Marion, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his father Martin H. Herres; and his half-brother Joshua Smith. He is survived by: his mother Cecelia Smith (Shildmyer) of La Fontaine; his children, Samantha Herres and Johnathon Herres; his partner Ashley Shaffer; and his half-siblings, Brian Herres, David Smith, Michael Smith (Faith) and Lorraine Herres. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
