He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Marcus Matthews, Sr. and Lilly Matthews (Lake); his daughter Demaris Matthews; his siblings, Drexel Matthews, Patty Matthews, Christine Coppage and Phyllis McMahan; and his grandchildren, Whitney Brown (Jonah), Kylie Charlton (Michael) and Corey Matthews. He was also cherished by seven great-grandchildren.
