He was predeceased by: his mothers, Winnie Miller and Gladys Miller (Kratzer); his siblings, Loren, Meredith and Madonna (Plotner); and his grandson Justin Miller.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen; his children, John Miller, Christopher Miller, Sarah Vogel (Roger), Thorpe Miller (Gina), Mary Miller (Jason), Gary Purvis (Ellenor), Kenny Purvis (Mary) and Cheryl Fields (Bill); his grandchildren, Brent Miller (Naomi), Brandon Miller, Zach Vogel (Margaux), Jacob Vogel (Caitlyn), Jessie Swihart (Daniel), Gavin Miller (Marin), Owen Miller, Malina Miller, Griffin Miller (Micayla), James Alhand, Nolan Miller, Isaac Alhand, Sadie Miller, Kim Purvis, Kerri Copher, Jason Purvis, Adam Purvis and Tina Helton; his great grandchildren, Heavyn, Ethan, Trinity Miller, Madyson Miller, Haley, Adam, Joshua Miller, Ellie, Miriam and Kinsley Vogel; and his brothers, Clayton Miller and Don Miller.
