He is survived by: his wife Shirley Gargus (Blackston) of Marion; his children, Victoria Hayes, Christina Gargus, Donna Gargus, Joyce VerStrate, Fredrick Gargus, Robert Gargus, James Keeton and Steven Gargus; and his sisters, Elaine Smith and Doylene Smith. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great‑grandchildren.
