He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Matthews and Mildred Matthews (Stewart). He is survived by: his wife Emily Rhodes Matthews; his daughters, Kacey Matthews and Kelly McCain (Kenneth); his sister-in-law Debbie Goodman; and his grandchildren, Nolan and Marin McCain.
