She was predeceased by: her parents, George "Eldon" Shafer and Lucinda Shafer (Fertick); her husband Glenn S. Benson; and her siblings, June Shinall, William and Gene Shafer.

She is survived by: her children, Janet Sipp (David) of Granger, Indiana and David Horvath (Lois) of Granger, Indiana; and her grandchildren, Samuel, Lucie, Sarah, Erin, Grace, William, Paul and Jude Horvath.
