He is survived by: his sons, David A. Schmitt, Jr. (Wendy) of South Bend, IN and John M. Schmitt of Mishawaka, IN; his grandchildren, Brianna McIntosch (Garry), Jessica Martin (Allen), Kayla, Ryan and Katherine Schmitt; and his siblings, Paul J. Schmitt, Joseph M. Schmitt of Illinois and Ruthann Schmitt. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
