He is survived by: his parents, Leonard Whitfield and Juliana C. Whitfield (Brasini); his wife Beth Burmeister; his children, Rachel Knafel (Matt), Michael, Jacob (Alicia), Abigail, Zachary and Demetrius Jackson; his sisters, Janet Hyduk (Tim) and Joann Welsh (Jim); his parents-in-law, Tom and Judy Burmeister; his in-laws, Mike Burmeister (Cathy) and Jennifer Rittenhouse (John); and his grandchildren, Caroline, Tommy, John Knafel and Carter Whitfield. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mishawaka Catholic School, Marian High School Athletics, or St. Joseph Catholic Church of Mishawaka.
