She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Causey and Oneta Causey Sr. (Thoele); her daughters, Christina "Tina" Blackburn and Susan Marshall; and her sister Ethlyn Johnson.

She is survived by: her husband Randy Sowers; her children, Donna Marshall-Davis (Mark), Diana Cook (Peter), Julie Helferich (Jason), Larry Marshall, Kerry Marshall (Gayle), Kevin Marshall (Sherilyn), Mark Marshall (Jackie), Todd Marshall and Scott Marshall; and her siblings, Shirley Densimore (Tom), Sandra Laidig (Dwight), Marilyn Derbin (Gary) and Ralph Causey Jr..

Memorial contributions can be made in Joyce's memory to the Michiana Down Syndrome, 2448 Miracle Lane A, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
