He was predeceased by: his parents, George W Erdel and Bessie M. Erdel (Glick); his former wife Chloetta E. Erdel (Egly); and his sister Julia E. Farley (Erdel). He is survived by: his wife Ruth F. Erdel (Deyneka Shalanko); his children, Timothy Erdel (Sally), David Erdel (Laura), John Erdel (Lorena) and Ruth Stuck (Tim); and his stepchildren, John Shalanko (Maria) and Lydia Shalanko. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and by 14 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, and by many extended family.
Donations to Bethel University, Indiana, or to World Partners of the Missionary Church are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
